TOP magazine from the Ukraine has used an image from "Habitat Machines" for its front cover. There's also a 5 page spread of other images inside the mag. To download the issue visit www.top-estate.com.ua/en/ My work was also mentioned on Russian television, no idea what they're saying about it, but hopefully its something good! Here's the link for that as well (its about 2 minutes into the clip): http://www.tvkultura.ru/

october.14.2008 review by Gary Michael Dault...
Gary Michael Dault reviewed "habitat machines" in last weekend's Globe and Mail: “..with his dark, brooding Waffle Iron Heights, wherein three tarnished waffle irons are shoved together to make a
convincing mega-structure soaring up into a dark, overcast sky like some chillingly gigantic tower from Fritz Lang's film Metropolis.” For the full review click here!

september.17.2008 its a habitat virus...
Seems the good folks at dezeen.com & gizmodo.com liked my work enough to post some images from "habitat machines"on their sites, which in turn has spawned a crazy amount of exposure on various blogs & whatnot. So far my favorite link is this: http://www.etoday.ru/ No idea what the text says, but I like seeing the work juxtaposed with the legions of half naked glamourati. Favorite comment so far? "looks like first year photoshop course" Good thing that commenter has never seen my drawings, he'd put me on par with a 2 year old.

september.9.2008 habitat machines exhibition...
Running from september 24th to october 19th 2008 at LE Gallery is my next solo exhibition, "habitat machines". Opening is saturday september 27th from 2-5pm. Please visit www.le-gallery.ca for more information. Exhibition statement below:
In 'Habitat Machines' David Trautrimas' photo based architecture explores the construct of home with a series of residential buildings born of everyday objects. From Art Deco coffee pots to the Constructivist grid pattern on an old bathroom scale, Trautrimas searches for source materials which allude to a greater architectural doctrine usually unnoticed in these machines. Then, by dramatic distortion of scale and context, elements of these objects are meticulously re-assembled into strikingly original structures that are paradoxically familiar by virtue of their origins.

september.7.08 strange installation...
If you're around the corner of Yonge & Richmond in Toronto check out my installation in the Bay window. It consists of 3 pieces that will be part of the upcoming "Habitat Machines" exhibition at LE Gallery, plus a huge assortment of junk I've collected over the years. Pics below. (please note this installation is now over, thanks!)
